On 8 March 2023, ICON Engineering marked International Women’s Day (IWD) and a year-on-year doubling of its number of female employees with a well-attended lunch that included staff and the Executive Team.
A Long History, A Local Milestone
IWD has been marked for well over a century — the first gathering, in 1911, drew the support of more than a million people. For ICON, the 2023 event coincided with a genuine internal milestone: the number of female employees at the company had doubled over the preceding 12 months.
Building an Inclusive Culture in a Male-Dominated Industry
“We feel it is important to celebrate women in this male dominated energy workforce and the value we bring not only to ICON but to the oil and gas industry as a whole,” said Mel Simpson, ICON’s Head of People and Culture at the time.
