Crane HPU Changeout on Santos’ Reindeer Platform

Santos engaged ICON Engineering to replace a critical crane hydraulic power unit on the Reindeer offshore platform, located in a congested, high-risk lower deck area near live pressurised well equipment. ICON developed a custom cable and support beam skidding system that allowed the crane to remain operable throughout the changeout, avoiding direct crane handling in the hazardous zone. The HPU was successfully removed and replaced in a live offshore environment, with minimal operational disruption and zero LTIs.
