Santos engaged ICON Engineering to design, supply and install purpose-built detachable platforms for the Pilbara 500 Containerised Jack-Up Barge, supporting repair and preliminary P&A wireline operations across three small platforms near Varanus Island. ICON’s modular access tower enabled safe personnel transfer across varying elevations and tides, removing the need for a larger, higher-cost vessel. The solution delivered the only viable access method between platform and barge, earning a finalist nomination in the Santos Directors EHSS Awards 2025.
