Boom stand hits the road

One of our flagship projects—replacing the iconic cranes on an offshore platform—has officially moved from design and fabrication to the installation phase.
Recently, a brand-new 16m long boom rest structure made its way from Henderson to Karratha—a journey of over 1,500km. With a width of 6.8m and a height just under 6m, this was no ordinary road trip. It was a logistics challenge that tested the boundaries of what can be moved by road.
Thanks to the innovative thinking that drives us, and the collaboration of Polaris Engineering and Sienalex Transport, we pivoted from the initial plan of sea freight to road transport. The result? Faster delivery and significant cost savings for our client.
Of course, pulling this off wasn’t without its challenges—from early engagement with Western Power to lift multiple high-voltage lines along the route, to navigating complex transport regulations. But with solid planning and teamwork, we got it done.
A big thank you to everyone involved!
