ICON’s range of Advanced Riser Tension Protection systems (ARTP) are heave compensated tension lift frames.
ICON’s heave compensation solutions are designed to manage rig motion during offshore wireline, slickline, e-line and coiled tubing operations, improving safety, load control and operability on floating drilling rigs. These systems are applied where heave-induced vertical motion can compromise marine riser integrity, as back-up for the rig’s active heave drawworks, or as the primary heave compensation system.
Importantly, all ARTP systems feature a fixed working window. In the event of system activation, risk to personnel is minimised compared to systems that do not incorporate this feature.
We provide heave compensation through heave compensated tension lift frames. Commonly referred to as Riser Tension Protection Systems (RTPS), at ICON we refer to them as ARTP systems. These systems are deployed where primary rig heave compensation is unavailable, limited, or where additional redundancy is required to protect critical intervention operations. ICON’s heave compensation solutions are delivered as integrated systems, combining mechanical equipment, control philosophy and offshore procedures. Designs are grounded in offshore execution experience and configured to suit rig capabilities, operational constraints and project risk profiles.
